Whether you are newly diagnosed with Parkinson's or have been living with PD for years, it helps to talk to others who are going through the same thing.  Not every group is right for every person. They may serve certain populations also (caregivers, young onset, religious affiliation) so we urge you to visit more than one group if you aren't feeling a comfortable match.

Studies are showing that exercise is beneficial for people with Parkinson's.  Not only can it make you feel better physically, but it can help boost your mood, give you energy and build your confidence.  With that said, you need to be safe and choose an exercise program that best fits your abilities. It also needs to be enjoyable so choose a program that you like.  If you enjoy it, you are more likely to continue going back. It is always best to check with your doctor before beginning any exercise program.

If you have Parkinson's disease, you will likely need the support of Parkinson's specialists other than your doctor at times.  These may include physical therapists, occupational therapists, speech therapists, music and dance therapists,  and counselors among others.
